GLOBALMEDIA SHOWCASES BENEFITS OF TELEMEDICINE AT UNIVERSITY TECHNOLOGY SUMMIT

Sacramento, CA, UC Davis, October 30, 2007 - University of California Medical Schools gathers the latest technology in Telemedicine companies to aid in purchasing decisions and student development. The University of California is now poised to make significant purchasing decisions for the medical university system.

GlobalMedia Group, LLC, of Scottsdale, Arizona, along with only nine other companies, was invited to the October 30, 2007 Technology Summit. Cisco, LifeSize, Polycom and Tandberg were also selected for this year's summit. Companies were selected based on proven track records of industry stability, equipment reliability, compatibility and customer support. At the conference, each of the ten companies showcased their products and presented their unique business propositions to an audience that included university medical doctors, faculty, staff, residents and students from all five UC Medical School campuses.

As a leader in Telemedicine, GlobalMedia supports the university initiatives.  Inviting proven, forward-thinking companies to its Technology Summit is one way UC Medical centers continue to give students the best quality education and increase their capacity for competitive excellence. The goal of this year's one-day summit was to increase access to patient care via telemedicine in each school's PRIME Medical Student Training initiative.

The UC medical system decides how to allocate the federal grant money for their medical school programs that are spread across five campuses: Davis, Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego and San Francisco. Each campus was allotted $35 million through the passing of Proposition 1D in last year's election.  The grant will continue to raise the bar in producing the highest quality of graduates.  Being rated among the nation's top hospitals for the ninth consecutive year, the University of California medical system has the unique position of having to live up to its own reputation, including making wise decisions about future technology purchases.

"We are all witnessing the importance that Universities’ play in bringing medical breakthroughs to an aging population. So it’s a part of our mission to provide the very best tools and solutions possible to aid in the automation and delivery of medical care within any healthcare system. Using telecommunication technologies, to deliver services, precise images and medical information to locations that are distant from the care giver or educator, can help both the UC Medical system and the greater global need for quality healthcare," says Joel E. Barthelemy, GlobalMedia’s Managing Director.

GlobalMedia is no stranger to the university environment.  Current users of its technology are; Columbia, Stanford, Harvard medical schools, Catholic Healthcare West, Barrow Neurological Institute, Gallaudet University and Arizona State University Polytechnic.  To ensure customer satisfaction, nearly 70 percent of GlobalMedia's staff is dedicated to product engineering, research, development and customer-centric designs.  One example is GlobalMedia's flagship product, "CapSure®." This store-and-forward software solution automates the capture of images during an exam or during critical surgical operation where a pathologist’s diagnosis is crucial. CapSure captures and processes images during a medical consult. CapSure is being utilized to automate and streamline results in pathology, dermatology, research, forensics and educational life science settings.

William H. Miller, PhD., of Arizona State University, stated "CapSure is a tool to get to the answer because it provides accurate data. The better the data, the better the answer, CapSure significantly enhances the speed and accuracy of our research.  The ability to capture and archive is instrumental within our research."

The latest technology from GlobalMedia's product line is the TotalExam™ camera.  It’s the first high-definition capable digital exam camera specifically engineered for examinations that involve dermatology, wound care and even cases of physical abuse. In addition to the exam room, this very portable, light-weight camera, can be used for imaging requirements associated with educational life science applications and even autopsies.  Using the TotalExam camera in conjunction with GlobalMedia's CapSure store-and-forward software solution, care providers can manage client medical images within the most popular EMR (Electronic Medical Record) system or the pan-Canadian iEHR (Interoperable Electronic Health Record) system.

The University of California medical system is focused on looking forward in the medical community and meeting needs based on the changing demographic.  Telemedicine technology will help unite the five campuses.  In addition to being introduced to the University of California medical program, GlobalMedia is well known and supports care-givers, hospitals and medical schools around the world, such as those in Nigeria, Europe, Latin America, Mexico, Russia and China.

In conclusion, Joel Barthelemy stated, “To be considered an industry leader by such an esteemed center for innovation and education is an honor for our company.  We look forward to living up to the reputation and becoming future partners with University of California's Medical School faculty, staff and residents."
