Q: Where can I find the Windows XP drivers for this camera?
A: In this OS it is plug and play and does not require a downloaded driver. Do not install the drivers from your CD or from any downloads, as they may cause problems in Windows XP.
Q: How does this camera connect to my computer?
A: This camera connects via a 6 pin FireWire port to your computer. Most PC laptop computers have a 4 pin FireWire port. This port does not provide power to FireWire devices and will not work with this camera. Some hubs may not provide this power either, so it is recommended you connect directly to your computer.
Q: Do I have to have an internet connection to use this camera?
A: The camera can function without an internet connection, however, video conferencing does require a connection.
Q: Does this camera have built in audio?
A: This camera does not have a microphone or speakers, built-in. We recommend having a sound card or alternate means to use audio for video conferencing.
Q: I am in Windows 2000 and my camera is displaying in black and white, how do I fix this?
A: Follow these instructions:
While the camera is attached:
- From your Start Menu, choose "Settings", then "Control Panel".
- Double click on "System".
- Click on the "Device Manager" tab.
- Inside "Device Manager" there should be an "Imaging Devices" section. Click the "+" beside this section.
- Click on the "Sony Camera" then click on the "Properties" button.
- Click on the "Driver" tab, then click on the "Update Driver" button.
- Select "Specify the location of the driver". Click "Next".
- Select "Display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want". Click "Next".
- Click the "Have Disk" button.
- Select "Copy manufacturers' files from 'X:\install\windows 2000\" (where 'X': is the letter drive of your CD-Rom where the 'StealthFire CD' is located). Click on "OK". Click on "Ok".
- Click on the "iREZ 1394 Camera" version. Click "Next".
- Click "Yes" IF your computer prompts you with the following: "Windows detects that your current driver may be a closer match of your hardware device than the drive you have selected. Are you sure you want to use the driver you elected?"
- Click "Finish".
- Open amcap (It can be found on your CD in 'X:\Software\amcap\')
- From the options menu, choose "Video Capture Filter".
- Click on the "Video Proc Amp" tab.
- Move the "saturation" slider to the right until the proper amount of color appears.
- Click the "Default" button.
- Click "Ok".
Q: How do I get my camera working in Windows 2000 Service Pack 3 or above?
A: Follow these instructions:
- Download the SP3 fix.
- Unzip the "ohci1394.sys" file to your desktop.
- Locate your current "ohci1394.sys" file in "c:\winnt\system32\drivers\" and back it up.
- Copy the downloaded file from your desktop into "c:\winnt\system32\drivers\" and into "c:\winnt\system32\dllcache".
- Restart your computer.
Q: Is there support for Windows Vista?
A: At this time there are no drivers/support for Windows Vista.
Q: Where can I find the OS X drivers for this camera?
A: This camera is supported in OS 10.2 and above versions. This OS is plug-and-play and does not require a downloaded driver.
